Solar Imaging Session - December 31, 2023

The sky this morning is partly clear and seeing condition is very good. Not much big sunspots except the one in AR3531 and AR3534 regions. There are also 2 large prominences in NW and SW limb. I was only able to image in Ha wavelength as clouds covered up the sky around lunch time and I have to go out with family for Pre New Year activties and bonding. Happy New Year!

Lunar Imaging Session - December 30, 3023

The sky this evening is clear and seeing condition is very good. I use a ZWO ASI294MC PRO camera on Meade 8" f/10 SCT with 0.63x reducer / corrector to capture the Waning Gibbous Moon. I also use a TV 2.5x Powermate om Meade 8" f/10 SCT to capture the Janssen Crater Region area as well.

Solar Imaging Session - December 25, 2023

Merry Christmas!!! The sky this late morning is cloudy and seeing condition is poor. I set up at around 9:30am but was able to finished my solar session past 2:30pm due to heavy large patch of clouds thats taunting me whole session! Lots of blue sky all around except near the Sun area! Nevertheless, I was still able to get the major groups AR3529 and AR3531 in all 3 wavelengths plus a huge NW ejection prominence.

SVbony SV226 Filter Drawer Set Unboxing and 1st Impression

I was able to received a new product SVbony SV226 filter Drawer for testing the other day. The SV226 includes a solid aluminum filter drawer system that includes also 2 drawers with the set as well as a 2" to 1.25" filter adapter and this allow interchanging of different filters easily. A 48mm to 42mm ring for you to connect different size 48mm and 42mm rings. The set also includes a hard plastic case to protect the filter drawer from bumps and dents while transporting it. The drawers has a 2 small magnets on each drawer side to firmly attach it to the filter drawer system and has a thickness of 21mm thus when using the drawer together with a dedicated cooled camera as well as field flattener, I need to remove the 21mm spacer in place of the drawer to get the needed 55mm back focus. The drawer is also built like a tank and during test, there are no light leakage visible when I image the bright Moon so things a good investment as the price is not expensive and you got an extra free drawer for free with the set. The sky this evening is clear and seeing condition is very good. I use this opportunity to test the Borg 1.4x teleconverter gifted to me by my astro friend Gab Casuga and mounted it into my Borg 76ED Refractor with ZWO ASI294MC Pro camera.

Solar Imaging Session - December 10, 2023

The sky this afternoon is clear and seeing condition is good. AR3513 is getting bigger while outgoing AR3511 and AR3510 is nearing the SW limb. AR3516 and AR3515 are coming in from the SE limb. AR3513 in Ha wavelength is showing some flaring activities as well. AR3507 is also nearing the NW limb.

Solar Imaging Session - December 8, 2023

The sky this afternoon is partly clear but seeing condition is poor. Numerous sunspot groups visible on the Sun's disk with AR3514 , AR3513 , AR3511 , AR3510 and AR3507 the larger groups. There is also a huge NW ejection prominence nicely seen.
