Solar Imaging Session - November 30, 2009

Hello:

The sky this morning was a bit cloudy so I have to wait till almost 9:00am before I was able to get a small opening for me to scan the Sun's limb for any prominences. I was able to see several small to medium size prominences around the solar limb but with a small window time for me to image. I concentrated on the bigger prominence and image it under bad seeing. Well....... better than nothing :) LOL

Solar Imaging Session - November 29, 2009 (Nice Large Eruptive Prominence)

Hello:

The sky this morning is clear and seeing was also good. I setup my PST and scan the Sun for any good looking prominences and initially was able to see 2 small prominences only. But I again rescan the Sun's limb this time through the LCD of my laptop and was able to see a fairly large faint eruptive prominence that I almost missed! I quickly image the large prominence before clouds started to bother me again :) LOL

Solar Imaging Session - November 28, 2009

Hello:

I got to wake up late this morning as was all stressed out last night. Nevertheless, I got to take a short peek at the Sun and saw several nice moderate size prominences on the Sun's limb. I quickly setup my PST to image them but unfortunately, clouds moves in to cover the Sun and I was only able to take a short exposure on the Sun and was able to capture 2 of the several prominences visible that time.

November 18, 2009 Leonid Meteor Shower Observation

Hello:

Although we were expecting a higher ZHR from Asia, we here in the Philippines were a bit disappointed with the turn out as from my observing site in the compound of Bicol University in Daraga, Albay, Philippines, ALPer Mike Cano and I were able to observe 25 sporadics and 20 Leonids only from 12:00am - 5:00am of Nov 18 (Nov 17 16:00-21:00 UT). Nevertheless I was able to image some Leonids as well as some trails coming from 2 bright bolide.

I would like to thank Dean Amy Dolosan who allowed us access to the roofdeck to observe at the darker compound of the university. Likewise to Ariel Chua of Studio Work Plus (http://studioworkplus.com/ ) in Legaspi City for lending me an extra photo tripod.

Solar Imaging Session - November 15, 2009 (Huge Eruptive Prominence Sequence)

Hello:

The sky this morning is fair and I was elated when I was able to see a large eruptive prominence clearly visible in the field of my eyepiece! I quickly setup my PST and was able to monitor the prominence for more than 2 hours. Images taken using Coronado PST-Ha and 2x barlow lens.

AR 11029 Group has re-emerged from the eastern limb but mostly the region structure can only be seen.

Solar Imaging Session - November 11, 2009

Hello:

Sun's activity this morning is very quiet with AR 11030 about to exit the western limb. Seeing is fair but quit boring to view and image even in Ha :( Hope tomorrow more solar activity can be viewed.

Solar Imaging Session - November 10, 2009

Hello:

2 moderate sized eruptive prominences are visible in the solar limb with AR 11030 Sunspot Group Region still visible. Seeing is fair.

Solar Imaging Session - November 9, 2009

Hello:

The sky this morning is fair and The Sun activity quiets down a bit from yesterday's good showing. AR 11030 can still be seen but fading fast. A moderate size eruptive prominence can be seen prominently.

Solar Imaging Session - November 8, 2009 (Huge Eruptive Prominence !!! )

Hello:

I wake up late this morning and thought I would not be able to image the Sun as i got around less than 10 minutes of observing window before the Sun will be obstructed by my house's roof extension. But I still managed to setup and observe the Sun and to my amazement, a huge eruptive prominence jumped out of my eyepiece's view! It is one of the largest I have seen these past years so I quickly image it asap. Seeing is fair at 1/5 but the prominence is nevertheless beautiful! Image can be viewed below:

3 hours after I image the huge eruptive prominence, the prominence had already ejected its shell away from the solar limb which can be seen faintly from ther image I took. Seeing was terrible as thick clouds keeps on passing in front of the Sun thus preventing me from getting a good shot of the prom. Nevertheless, the prom can still be seen faintly.

Solar Imaging Session - November 6, 2009

Hello:

Weather this morning is not that clear as thick clouds covered the Sun most of the time before 9am. I was only able to get a small window of opportunity to image the Sun below which shows a moderate size eruptive prominence.

Solar Imaging Session - November 3, 2009

Hello:

It looks like my prayer was answered today as I prayed that there will be more large eruptive prominences inj the days to come! 3 large eruptive prominences can be seen in the solar limb. Seeing was also okay this morning. Will there be another good show tomorrow is another question that will be answered in 8 hours time :)

Solar Imaging Session - November 2, 2009

Hello:

It was a clear day this morning and I quickly setup my PST-Ha to see how old Sol is doing lately. It was unfortunate that when AR11029 was crossing the Sun. The weather was quite bad for me to do any solar imaging :( Anyway, the seeing was good today and I was able to see numerous solar prominences around the solar limb as seen below:
