Solar Imaging Session - September 11, 2013 (Huge Eruptive & Hedgerow Prominences!)

The sky this morning is partly cloudy and hazy but I was still able to initially get a shot of the huge eruptive and hedgerow prominences that are visible in the SE limb. A large twisting huge dark filament can also be seen in the SE quadrant and near possible new AR11840 Sunspot Group. Unfortunately, seeing condition quickly deteriorates after the first image but I nevertheless proceeded to finish my imaging session before calling it a day.

Solar Imaging Session - September 9, 2013 (2 Huge Bar Prominences!)

The sky this morning is very hazy with some drizzle which I thought wont let me have a chance to observe and image the Sun. But at around 8:40am, The Sun peered out of the clouds for a short while for me to do a quick imaging before I get clouded out after 15 minutes :( The Sun is almost blank except for a solitary AR11838 Sunspot Group but the highlights this morning is the visibility of 2 huge bar prominences on the SW and NW limb. As I was to image the SE limb, clouds shut me down thus wasn't able to image some nice large dark filaments :(

Solar Imaging Session - September 6, 2013

The sky this morning is clear but once again seeing condition is poor. Solar activity has gone down a bit with departure of AR11836 and AR11837 Sunspot Groups. But there is a new AR11838 Sunspot Group near the SE limb but is very small. Some small amount of eruptive prominences is visible around the Sun's limb.

Solar Imaging Session - September 3, 2013 (Numerous Huge Proms and Dark Filaments !!!)

The sky this morning is clear but seeing is not that good :( Lots of activities in the CW quadrant which includes several huge dark filaments as well as huge eruptive prominences! There is also another huge hedgerow prominence visible in the SE limb. There are also 4 sunspot groups visible on the Sun's disk namely AR11836 , 11837, 11835 & 11834 Sunspot Groups with AR11837 and AR11834 as the active ones. Overall, still a nice solar session despite the poor seeing condition.

Solar Imaging Session - August 30, 2013 (Nice NE Large Eruptive Prominence)

The sky this morning is partly cloudy but I was able to get a view of the Sun through Ha wavelength. Seeing condition is poor but the view of the solar features are not that bad. There are 3 nice sunspot groups namely AR11836, AR11835 & AR11834 visible on the solar disk. AR11835 Sunspot Group shows nice solar activity inside its core as well as AR11834 Sunspot Group. There is a nice huge eruptive prominence visible in the NE quadrant as well as a nice group of eruptive prominences visible in the SW limb. Unfortunately, clouds and rooftop obstruction prevented me from imaging the latter group in Ha as well as make any white light observation and imaging too :( Nevertheless, a nice solar imaging and observation session despite the poor sky condition. Hope tomorrow will have better condition :(

Solar Imaging Session - August 24, 2013

Finally, after more than 4 months of solar hibernation, I was able to again see sunlight peering through my observing window so I quickly setup my solar equipment to observe the Sun in H-Alpha wavelength. But as I was observing the Sun, thick clouds and haze started to spoil my first imaging session in several month's time. But this didn't stop me from still trying to get something out of the session despite the poor condition. I was able to get a shot of the large looped dark filament in the SW quadrant through passing clouds. Image quality is poor but I'm still happy I still manage to image even one poor frame :0 Hope to get better images tomorrow........

SuperMoon - June 23, 2013

The sky whole day was very bad and even rain in the afternoon till early evening. I was able to see the Moon peeked out from the clouds and hurriedly went home after buying some lettuce and ingredients for my Caesar Salad diet :) I got to get some shots of the Super Moon using a Canon EOS 500D DSLR on Canon EF 100-400mm f./4.5-5.6 IS L lens set top f/11. Another image on February 26, 2013 Full Moon can be compared to the current June 23, 2013 Full Moon size using same setup focal length.
