Solar Imaging Session - March 6, 2011 (4 Sunspot Groups!)

Hello:

The sky this morning is partly clear but seeing was surprising ok. There are 4 sunspot groups that can be seen on the Sun's disk. Of the 4 groups, AR11164 and AR11166 Sunspot Group are naked eye groups which means they can be seen without any optical aid but one still has to use a proper filtration to protect your eyes .

There is a large dark filament that can be seen beside AR11164 near the NW quadrant. There is also a large eruptive prominence that can be seen in the SE limb as well.

AR11165 Sunspot group is visible near the SW limb. Although not that active as seen in white light but ti is a beauty nevertheless in H-Alpha light. AR11167 Sunspot Group is very small and inconspicious. AR11164 Sunspot Group is very photogenic as well as AR11166 Sunspot Group both in white light and Ha wavelength.

Hope I could get another good weather tomorrow for me to do some more solar observation and imaging.
