Solar Imaging Session - April 20, 2023

Partial Solar Eclipse Imaging Session - April 20, 2023
The sky this morning is clear and seeing condition is fair. I, together with my son KC setup our telescopes at our roofdeck to observe and image the partial solar eclipse that will start at 11:45am and ends at 2:05pm with maximum eclipse of 23.7% happening at around 12:45pm. I use a Canon EOS M6 mirrorless camera on Borg 76ED Refractor with TV 2.5x Powermate and Baader 3.8 Solar Filter mounted on Vixen GPDX mount. KC, on the other hand, use a Canon EOS 500D DSLR on Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 IS L Lens set at 400mm f/11 mounted on Kenko Sky Memo-R star tracker. The weather was also pretty hot this afternoon with maximum temperature of 56 deg C at open area and 38 deg C if shaded. we were able to successfully image the entire eclipse till its end.

Solar Imaging Session - April 16, 2023
The sky this afternoon is clear and seeing condition is very good. AR3282 Sunspot Group is large and beautiful while a string of sunspot groups namely AR3283, AR3281, AR3279 & AR3276 Sunspot Group form a long chain in the SE quadrant. AR3280 Sunspot Group is nearing the SW limb but still produce a bright flare with 2 Ellerman Bombs besides the bright flare! A huge Hedgerow prominence is visible in the NW limb while another large eruptive prominence is visible as well in the NE limb. There is also a huge dark filament in the SE quadrant as well as a faint detached / ejection prominence in the SE limb.
