Lunar Imaging Session - February 7, 2015

I was planning to image Jupiter tonight but unfortunately, my observing window is blocked from seeing Jupiter so try to image the Waning Gibbous Moon instead. I once again use the Meade 8" f/10 SCT at prime focus with ZWO ASI120MM webcam to image Janssen crater region before I got obstructed again by the tall darn building :( Sigh!

Nice image using a webcam.I took my first smartphone imageof the moon a few days ago and was very disappointed, but I did capture a significant feature on Janssen not visible in your image. On day 4 there is a distinct linear shadow just above Janssen that is very interesting.

Normally I use a Sony Handicam for imaging principally because I can control focus and exposure manually, and can easily locate my target then zoom in for better resolution. I am thinking of switching to a webcam - but can I zoom with it?

I also have an 8" SCT but I have been ignoring it due to not having a good camera.

Thanks for your hard work on the website.
