Deep Sky Imaging Session - February 28, 2023

The sky this evening is clear so I attempted to image IC2177 Seagull Nebula in the constellation of Canis Major. I had a hard time imaging this nebula in light polluted Manila sky even with my Svbony SV220 7nm Duo Filter. Its dimmer a bit than Monket Nebula NGC2174. My orientation for this nebula is slightly off and lack more exposure so I plan to reimage it again. I use a ZWO ASI294MC PRO camera on Borg 76ED Refractor with 0.8x Reducer / Flattener and Svbony SV220 Duo Filter with ASIAIR on Vixen Starbook-S controller with Vixen GPDX mount. Total exposure of 30 minutes was taken on Unity Gain at -5 deg C .

Deep Sky Imaging Session - February 27, 2023

The sky this evening is clear so I attempted to image NGC2174 aka Monkey Head Nebula in the constellation of Orion. I had a hard time imaging this nebula in light polluted Manila sky even with my STC AstroMultiSpectra broadband filter but was a bit easier to capture using Svbony SV220 7nm Duo Filter. I use a ZWO ASI294MC PRO camera on Borg 76ED Refractor with 0.8x Reducer / Flattener and Svbony SV220 Duo Filter with ASIAIR on Vixen Starbook-S controller with Vixen GPDX mount. Total exposure of 60 minutes was taken on Unity Gain at -5 deg C .

Solar Imaging Session - February 17, 2023

The sky this afternoon is very hazy and seeing condition is fair. AR3226 Sunspot Group in white light wavelength is beautiful despite the poor seeing condition. I then got clouded out afterwards :(

Deep Sky Imaging Session - February 15, 2023

The sky this evening clear and I was able to test out the Svbony SV220 7nm Duo Narrowband Filter on NGC2244 Rosette Nebula in Monoceros. First time to use a narrowband filter instead of my traditional STC AstroMultiSpectra broadband filter. This filter suppressed the light pollution in city as well as allow only the Ha and OIII wavelength. I was only able to get a total of 60 minutes exposure before I got obstructed by roof. I use a ZWO ASI294MC PRO astro camera on Borg 76ED Refractor with Svbony SV220 Duo filter with ZWO ASIAIR v1 mounted on Vixen GPDX mount with Starbook-S controller. Overall, I think the filter is good for its value compare to the more expensive Optolong LXtreme and STC Astro Duo narrowband filters. I hope to get more test subjects and longer total integration exposures in the days to come.

Deep Sky Imaging Session - February 16, 2023

The sky this evening is partly cloudy and hazy, I try to get another image of IC434 Horsehead Nebula in Orion. I was only able to get a total of 60 minutes of decent images for me to process as rest were ruined by passing clouds. Hopefully on my next session, I would be able to get more subs on this beautiful subject. Image was taken using ZWO ASI294MC PRO camera on Borg 76ED Refractor with 0.8x Reducer / Flattener with ZWO ASIAIR V1. Total exposure of 60 minutes were obtain on Unity Gain at -5C .

Solar Imaging Session - February 12, 2023

The sky this afternoon is clear and seeing conition is fair. Lots of large sunspot groups visible on the solar disk. AR3220 , AR3217 and AR3219 Sunspot Groups form a long chain of sunspots entering from the SE quadrant while AR3214 and AR3213 Sunspot Groups are about to exit the NW limb. Not much solar prominences visible on the solar limb.

Comet Imaging Session - February 11, 2023 Comet C/2022 E3 ZTF Meets Mars!!!

The sky this evening is clear and the bright Comet C/2022 E3 ZTF meets up with the red planet Mars in the constellation of Taurus! They are close enough that both can fit into the field of a telephoto lens or small telescope. My son and I were able to image it using ZWO ASI294 MC Pro camera on Borg 76ED Refractor with 0.8x reducer / flattener. a total exposure of 3 minutes was made for a quicl upload at Unity Gain and -5 deg C . Better post process image will later be uploaded.

Deep Sky Imaging Session - February 11, 2023

The sky this evening is clear and after we capture the Comet 2022 E3 ZTF, my son Kendrick KC got to learn to use ASIAIR and ZWO ASI294MC Pro to capture M42 Great Orion Nebula . KC exposed for total exposure of 30 minutes for the nebula on Unity Gain at -5 deg C. I then use this data to try to process his beautiful data. A nice father and son joint effort on this session! We use a broadband STV AstroMultiSpectra filter to lessen light pollution. Hope next time to more subs in our next session.

Comet Imaging Session - February 7, 2023

The sky in the evening is partly clear but with a Full Moon phase :( Since I wasn't able to capture this comet earlier due to mount problems amd bad weather, I use this opportunity to quickly setup my telescope to try to image the departing Comet C/2022 E3 ZTF. It was located a few degrees north of bright star Capella. I use a ZWO ASI294MC Pro camera with Borg 76ED Refractor mounted on a Vixen GPDX mount to capture the comet. Total exposure of 10 minutes was made at unity gain and -5 deg C.

Solar Imaging Session - February 5, 2023

The sky this afternoon is partly clear ith fair seeing condition. No big sunspot groups are visible except numerous large hedgerow prominences as well as dark filaments.
