Solar Imaging Session - April 8, 2017

The sky this morning is clear but seeing is fair. I can still small remnants of AR2645 Sunspot Group both in Ha and white light wavelength near the edge of the western limb. AR2648 Sunspot Group is quiet producing only very small flaring activity.

Solar Imaging Session - April 7, 2017

The sky this morning is clear and seeing condition is fair. AR2645 Sunspot Group is near the edge of the western limb already and should probably be halfway out of the western limb by tomorrow or gone. :( Only small AR2648 Sunspot Group is visible on the solar surface aside from departing AR2645 Sunspot Group. There is also a nice large looped prominence in the NE limb.

Solar Imaging Session - April 6, 2017

The sky this morning is hazy but seeing condition is ok. AR2645 Sunspot Group is nearing the western limn and will be gone in 2 days more or less. With no big sunspot group emerging out of the eastern limb, the Sun might undergo another quiet week during the lenten week :( AR2645 Sunspot Group continues to pour out some more flares as it nears the western limb. There is also a nice large eruptive prominence in the eastern limb.

Testing Daystar Quark Chromosphere Ha Filter with Canon DSLR - April 5, 2017

I got some time after my solar imaging session last April 5, 2017 to test out Daystar Quark Chromosphere Ha Filter with Canon EOS 500D DSLR on Canon EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 IS L lens set at 300mm f/5.6. Initial test is promising but I can see the lack of dynamic range of a DSLR compare to my ASI120MM webcam which is far superior in contrast. But this maybe is a bit bias as this is my forst real attempt to use this setup so maybe a few more practice might improve the image.

The sky this morning is clear but seeing condition is not fair. AR2645 Sunspot Group is very active with numerous flaring activity inside its core while small AR2649 and 2648 Sunspot Groups showing very little solar activity inside its core.

Solar Imaging Session - April 4, 2017

The sky this morning is very hazy and cloudy. I had a hard time imaging because of many passing clouds so I just had to wait and strike mode on small openings to image departing AR2644 Sunspot Group as well as still active and huge AR2645 sunspot group.

Solar Imaging Session - April 3, 2017

The sky this morning was initially cloudy but after an hour wait, I was finally able to image departing AR2644 Sunspot Group near the NW limb and it was making her final show of flaring strength as it was producing I think M class flare inside its core. There are 2 new small sunspot groups namely AR2648 and 2649 Sunspot groups which are located in the eastern limb and beside AR2644 respectively. AR2645 Sunspot Group still is huge and shows some flaring activity inside its core as well. No large prominences are visible on the Sun's limb except for some small to moderate size prominences only.
