Solar Imaging Session - May 11, 2024

The sky this morning is again cloudy and hazy! I have to image through small cloud openings to image AR3664 and other moderate size regions as well as the huge SW eruptive prominence that has a faint arc structure as it collapse back to the solar limb.

Solar Imaging Session - May 10, 2024

The sky this morning is very cloudy but seeing condition is fair. AR3664 Region continues to be active in flaring activity but so far doesn't produce a super flare yet despite its enormous size which can be comparable to the record holder Carrington Sunspot of 1859 which is huge and produce huge coronal mass ejection (CMEs) back in 1859! Initially, I thought I will be totally clouded out for this solar session as I was waiting for some opening in the sky to get a few shots of it since 8:30am. But around 10:00am, a small opening in the clouds allows me to capture AR3664 both in whitelight and Ha wavelength before I got clouded out again :( Yesterday's huge SW eruptive prominence was still there but I wasn't able to capture it because of total overcast after capturing AR3664. Nevertheless, I'm still happy to capture the region.

Solar Imaging Session - May 9, 2024

The sky this morning is clear and seeing condition is very good. AR3664 Region contains the biggest sunspot group so far this past few years and still growing as it passed central meridian and started to move near the western limb. There is also a huge eruptive prominence in the SW limb and both are a joy to view this morning! AR3664 Sunspot Group is also a naked eye sunspot so it is visible to the naked eye with solar glasses or filter.

Deep Sky Imaging Session - May 5, 2024

It's been over a year since my last time doing a deep sky imaging session in the light polluted city of Manila. I was testing my imaging setup in preparation for next weekend deep sky imaging session in Tanay to test a new observation site for our members future trips there. Fortunately, I still remember the basic imaging system train on my setup to do a 1 hour total exposure of the beautiful NGC5139 Omega Centauri in the constellation of Centaurus using my Borg 76ED refractor with ZWO ASI294MC Pro astro camera. Still getting used to doing an evening imaging run so I didn't push myself much to stay long past midnight to image the Scorpius Sagittarius nebula objects which I plan to image under the dark skies of Tanay next weekend.

Solar Imaging Session - April 30, 2024

The sky this afternoon is clear and seeing condition is good. AR3654 Region is nearing the western limb and is quite silent. I was also able to to test out ZWO EAF on my Borg 76ED Refractor and allows me to get better focus and no need for me to stretch out my hand out on the focuser knob. Another very hot day today!

Solar Imaging Session - April 27, 2024

The sky this afternoon is clear and seeing is fair. But it was a very hot day as the Quark cant get into on band because of high temperature even if I try to cover the already barbecued Quark! So I had to settle into an off band shot of AR3654 Region :( Need to make a cardboard Sunshield I think to remedy this problem. Nevertheless, Im still OK.

Solar Imaging Session - April 19, 2024

The sky this lunchtime is clear and seeing condition is fair. AR3639 as well as the swarm group of AR3643, 3645, 3637 and 3638 region are the larger groups on the Sun's disk but the attention is focused on the huge SE eruptive prominence that shows the eruptive prominence erupting 2x during lunchtime and late afternoon but the late afternoon eruption is a little short lived.
