Solar Imaging Session - April 16, 2010 (2 Large Prominences and Large Dark Filament)

Hello:

I was able to observe and image the Sun this morning with fair skies and seeing condition. A sunspotless day today but in Ha light, I can still make out a small and faint remnant of AR 11062 Sunspot Group but I think this will be gone tomorrow.

The large dark filament in the northern limb is still bright and visible till now. 2 very large looped prominences can be seen in the NE and SE limb and I hope these 2 prominences will still give a good show tomorrow for all of us.

Solar Imaging Session - April 14, 2010 (2 Huge Faint Eruptive Prominences and Dark Filaments)

I wake up this morning with still a bad stomach but since I'm eager to check the huge eruptive prominence that I missed yesterday because of bad skies, I still put enough strength to check on the Sun. Unfortunately, the huge prominence is gone :( =====

Since I have already setup, I scanned the entire limb to see if there is any activities worth imaging. On the northern limb, I could see numerous dark filaments clearly. AR 11062 Sunspot Group, on the other hand is decaying and almost gone. But to give some incentives to my effort today, the Sun still gives me 2 huge eruptive prominences in the SE limb as a consolation :) LOL

The Sun this morning is quiet with only a few small to moderate size eruptive prominences as well as numerous dark filaments on the northern hemisphere of the Sun. Seeing is fair. Hope a new sunspot group will emerge again for us to do some nice imaging again...............

Solar Imaging Session - April 11, 2010

Hello:

I wake up late this morning as In was very tired last night :( I had to wait till around lunchtime before I was able to image the Sun at our laundry area. The Sun today is a bit quiet except for some beautiful dark filaments. One of the biggest dark filament can be viewed near the Northern limb.

AR 11060 Sunspot Group can still be seen in H-Alpha light as well as fainter traces of AR 11061 near the edge of the NW limb. Aside from the above , there is a nice large eruptive prominence that is visible in the SW limb.

Solar Imaging Session - April 8, 2010

Hello:

The sky this morning is very hazy and solar view was a bit soft as well. Nevertheless, I still try in vain to monitor and image the Sun through thick haze as well as some passing clouds :( I was tempted to monitor the huge eruptive prominence condition today which shows the eruptive prominence spreading out of the Sun's limb.

After trying to get good shots of the Sun, I was a bit frustrated by the bad seeing as well as hazy sky that tends to make my images a bit soft :( After a few images of the sunspot groups in H-Alpha, I gave up and packed up without doing white light imaging as it was very hard to get good exposure of the Sun. Anyway, better luck again tomorrow :0

Solar Imaging Session - April 7, 2010 (4 Sunspot Groups and 2 Large Eruptive Prominences!!!)

Hello:

I got to wake up early this morning and started imaging the Sun with the PST-Ha. There are 2 large eruptive prominences visible in both NE and SW limb! Aside from the prominences, AR 11061 Sunspot Group grows a bit larger as well as AR 11060 Group. A new possible AR 11062 (?) Sunspot Group is developing in between AR 11060 and AR11061. Although like AR 11059 Sunspot Group, AR 11062 is still very small and point like dot that one can missed viewing unless you have a good pair of sharp eyes :) LOL A Large Dark Filament can also be seen in the NE limb.

I was also able to image the Sun in white light both closeup and whole disk. Man! With all the data I got this morning, processing all the images in one sitting can be tiring and time consuming but nevertheless I enjoy viewing them after I got to finish processing them till morning hours of next day :) LOL

Solar Imaging Session - April 6, 2010 (3 Sunspot Groups & Large Eruptive Prominence !)

Hello:

The sky this morning is ok but I wake up late a bit so I quickly setup my solar gears and check the 2 large prominences if they are still visible. Only one of the 2 large proms yesterday is now visible and located in the SW limb.

AR 11061 caught me by surprise today as it suddenly popped out from no where and show nice core. AR 11059 sunspot group can still be seen faintly while AR 11060 is also starting to grow as well.

I got to also caught the 3 groups in white light but failed to image whole disk as it got obstructed already by the roof :(
