Lunar Imaging Session - August 10, 2019

It's almost a month already since I was able to do any astro imaging due to bad weather so when this evening is partly cloudy, I tried to break my astro jinx by imaging the Waxing Gibbous Moon through my portable Canon EOS M6 Mirrorless Camera with Borg 76ED refractor mounted on a sturdy Vixen Porta mount. Exposure of 1/160sec at ISO 200 was used. I also experimented this session with using the dual speed focuser that is mounted on the Meade 8 inch SCT and mounted it on the Borg instead of the original 7835 helical focuser to get a better feel on the focus. Need to slide the dovetail rack to its end to balance the system :) LOL

July 10, 2019 Lunar Imaging Session

The sky this evening is partly clear but mostly just fast passing clouds. I set up the Celestron C90 Maksutov-Cassegrain together with Canon EOS M6 Mirrorless Camera mounted on Vixen Porta II mount to image tonight's Waxing Gibbous Moon with my son at the roof deck of our residence.

Solar Imaging Session - June 25, 2019

The sky this afternoon is clear but seeing condition is fair only. There is a new pore like sunspot group, designated as AR2743 Sunspot Group visible near the western limb. At least this will break the zero sunspot group drought spell together with another small pore group AR2742, which was visible yesterday but now gone.

Solar Imaging Session - June 16, 2019

The sky this morning is clear but seeing condition is poor. Not much contrast on the solar limb as well as surface. There is a large prominence that resembles a tree in the NE limb but the tree leaves area is quite faint and hard to see due to poor seeing condition. Its a bit noticeable in the mono image rather than the colorize version of the image.

The sky this afternoon is cloudy and again very windy. Seeing condition is also not that good. Not much solar activity this afternoon except for a large group of faint eruptive prominences in the western limb.

Lunar Imaging Session - June 13, 2019

The sky this evening is cloudy again and I was able to image the waxing gibbous moon through cloud opening using Borg 76ED refractor with Televue Zoom 8-24mm set at 16mm coupled afocally on Celestron NexYZ smartphone adapter with Huawei P20 Pro Smartphone at Pro mode set at 1/1000sec at ISO 50 mounted on Vixen Porta II mount. Solar Imaging Session - June 13, 2019

The sky this afternoon is cloudy and very windy. I find it hard to image as its shaking my light setup. I was only able to image the NW limb of of prominence before I got clouded out.
