Deep Sky Imaging Session - April 5, 2021

The sky this evening is a little hazy and I initially didn't plan to do any imaging tonight but the urge to do DSO imaging while in lockdown time forced me to still setup despite the bad weather condition. I also got into strong wind trouble this session as well so I have to almost throw away more than 30 minutes of subs exposures.  I also decided not to use the latter part of my 30 minutes more subs as I can see more haze and gradient noise on the frames. Nevertheless, result still came out ok a bit but again fighting the horizon glow as well as haze this session.  Image once again taken through my ZWO ASI294MC Pro camera with Borg 76ED refractor on Vixen GPDX mount. A total of only 60 minutes exposure was made to make this image.

Deep Sky Imaging Session - April 4, 2021

The sky this evening is clear and yesterday haze and thin clouds is almost gone so I reattempted again IC434 Horsehead Nebula in the constellation of Orion with my usual setup of ZWO ASI294MC Pro camera with Borg 76ED refractor on Vixen GPDX mount. Total of 60 minutes exposure was made on the subject.  I also remove the UV filter in front of my Borg 76ED refractor that was causing internal lens flare on bright stars.

Deep Sky Imaging Session - April 3, 2021

The sky this evening is not good as there is a thick haze that is near the western horizon that hampers my attempt to image IC 434 Horsehead Nebula in the constellation of Orion. I try to get more data for this object but unfortunately, I got lots of trash subs cause by wind vibration and , haze and horizon glow that I had to trashed more than 50% of what I captured.  Nevertheless, I use the remaining usable data and force process the image thus ;pts of noise and gradients.  Anyway, will retry this object again this week as another 1 week extension of ECQ (Enhance Community Quarantine) has been announced.  Image taken using ZWO ASI294MC Pro camera with Borg 76ED refractor on Vixen GPDX mount. Total of 30 minutes exposure was used on this object.

Deep Sky Imaging Session - April 2, 2021

The sky this early evening is clear so I setup my scope to image M42 Great Orion Nebula in the constellation of Orion. I got into trouble early as had power problem that run my mount properly but after I got to troubleshoot the cable problem so when I'm about to image , M42 is slightly a little low already in the western horizon but I still proceeded not to waste the opportunity to image it. I was also in a hurry that the subject was  off center a bit so I just crop the image to center it a bit. Nevertheless, I'm still satisfied with the initial result .  I hope to reimage it again in the days to come. Image was taken using ZWO ASI294MC Pro camera with Borg 76ED refractor on Vixen GPDX mount. Total exposure of 60 minutes was made for the image.

Solar Imaging Session - April 1, 2021

The sky this afternoon is very cloudy and I had to fight thick slow passing clouds for more than 1.5 hours before I was able to start imaging the Sun in Ha wavelength.  AR2812 and remnant of AR2811 Sunspot Groups are about to exit the western limb and there is also a nice large eruptive prominence in the SW limb.

Solar Imaging Session - March 30, 2021

The sky this afternoon is partly clear and yesterday's large hedgerow prominence has ejected out its plasma creating a huge eruptive prominence and a joy to view through a Ha equipped scope! AR2812 and remnant of AR2811 Sunspot Groups continues to show mild flaring activity as it approaches the western limb.

 

Solar Imaging Session - March 29, 2021

The sky this afternoon is partly cloudy and I have to fight with fast passing clouds to do solar imaging this late afternoon. AR2812 Sunspot Group still show some moderate flaring activity as well as remnant of AR2811 Sunspot Group. Several large group of prominences are visible on the SE , NW and SW limb. The NW limb prominence looks possible to grow larger tomorrow but will know fro tomorrow imaging session.
